Welcome to the sixth annual Internet Librarian International—the only conference for information professionals and librarians who are using, developing, and implementing internet, intranet, and web-based strategies in their daily work as information navigators, webmasters, web managers, content evaluators, internet strategists, portal creators, product developers, searchers, library managers, and educators.

Back in London for 2004, Internet Librarian International provides a stimulating forum for inquiring delegates and experienced speakers to explore the exciting range of issues and challenges that information professionals face today.

Two Keynotes & 50 International Speakers
Join internet librarians from around the world at Internet Librarian International on 11 – 12 October 2004 in London.

  • Hear from experts, information professionals, and working librarians about their hard-won expertise, creative ideas, and practical implementation strategies.
  • Update your skills and learn about new strategies, products, and technology for finding, organising, and managing information resources.
  • Energise your thinking and collect dozens of practical tips and tools to take back to your job.

Create your own conference agenda from among dozens of sessions in nine focused conference tracks including:

  • Information Literacy & E-Learning
  • Information Issues
  • Digital Libraries & Electronic Resources
  • Open Access Forum
  • CyberClinics
  • Managing Content
  • Optimising Technology
  • Web Search Skills & Resources
  • Technology, Tools & Practices

Two powerful, thought-provoking keynote speakers, great networking opportunities, and a selection of four in-depth pre-conference workshops round out the conference agenda and create an unparalleled opportunity for international librarians to share and learn from each other.

Open Access Forum
What is open access all about? What should librarians know about it? It began as an academic discussion but has become an international movement to turn the world’s research literature into a global resource accessible to everyone over the internet.

This special session—featuring an interview with open access activist Stevan Harnad and a panel of several experts who have worked with publishers, government agencies, and library associations—promises to be lively and thought-provoking. Get up-to-date quickly and understand the complex issues of access, archives, and infrastructure by attending this special forum on Monday 11 October.

Since the topic is “open access,” we are opening the doors to this session free of charge. But full ILI delegates will have first choice to a limited number of seats, which we predict will be filled fast.

Don’t delay in sending in your conference registration, and indicate that you plan to attend this session to ensure your participation in this important forum.

ILI CyberClinics
Share, discuss, and learn from librarians around the world at the ILI CyberClinics on Monday afternoon, 11 October. The CyberClinics are practical small-group tutorials, demonstrations, and poster sessions that will share tips, techniques, and how-to information. Ask questions and get answers from the speakers in the informal CyberClinics so you can put these ideas into practice within your own organisation. Click here for a schedule of the CyberClinics and plan now to attend.

Lunches & Evening Reception
All conference delegates are invited to buffet lunches on both days of the conference, and to an evening reception on Monday 11 October. These events are special opportunities to network with your international colleagues and discuss topics of shared interest in an informal atmosphere.
