Gary graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA(Hons) degree in Information and Library Management in 1994. Following graduation he worked in higher education libraries. He has worked for Surrey County Council Public Library Service since 1997, initially starting out as a cataloguer. His current position within the Digital Services Team, as Digital Services Lead, is to support the development of online, web, social media and digital services for the library service, as well as STEM and creative technology makerspace activities.
