Martin has over 50 years of experience in information management. As Managing Director of Intranet Focus Ltd from 1999-2023 he undertook over 200 enterprise-scale information management projects in Europe and North America. He is the author of twelve books, most recently "Workarounds - the Benefits and Risks", (https://sheffield.pressbooks.pub/workarounds) which at the time of submission is the top-ranked title on Google for a search on the impact of workarounds on the effective adoption of AI in the enterprise. Martin was a Visiting Professor at the Information School, University of Sheffield, from 2002 to 2025. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
